Our glowing Christmas pine cone basket will brighten your holidays on those cold winter nights. This is a fun, inexpensive, easy to make Christmas gift. Just be sure to save one for yourself.
The supplies you need to make a glowing Christmas pine cone basket are:
Wicker basket
Christmas paper
Gold spray paint
paper bags
Craft bond spray adhesive
Christmas foil wrap
Minature Christmas lights
Decorative beads and glitter
Pine cones
Decorative bow
1. Start with a plain wicker basket.
2. Gather your Krylon metallic gold spray paint, Craft Bond spray adhesive and glitter together and get ready for some fun.
3. Add a couple of light coats of metallic gold spray paint to your basket. Allow to dry.
4. Lay about 1/3 of your pine cones out on paper and give them a light coat of craft spray adhesive.
5. Pour your glitter into a paper bag. Now add your pinecones (while the spray adhesive is still wet) and shake until your pine cones are coated on all sides with glitter. Let these dry then shake any loose glitter off.
6. Line your basket with scrapes of Christmas paper, print side facing out. This will hold in your pinecones and also reflect the light. Christmas foil paper works well for this.
7. I like to use mini lights for this project. Any color will work. It's a good idea to make sure that all of your lights are working before you stary placing them into your basket.
8. If you don't have enough pine cones you can use filler for your bottom layer. Simply bunch up scrapes of newspaper or paperbags the size of your fist and wrap them with Christmas foil paper. This will help reflect the light. Place pine cones or filler on the bottom, add a layer of plain pine cones, and some mini lights.
9. Continue to add pine cones and lights until your basket is nearly full. Finish up your basket by using your glitter pine cones and metallic garland beads as your top layer. Now add a decorative bow to your basket. Enjoy!
