Custom made decorative lettering stencil questions

How to order the right size stencil

We want you to be happy with your stencil so please pay attention to the overall stencil height when ordering your stencil. Stencil height is measured from the baseline. However, some letters such as f,g,h, j,k,l,p,q,y and z will extend above or below the baseline. Because of the this the overall height of a stencil is always larger than the text (font) height.

1. How do I know what size stencil to order?

First of all, decide what you're going to stencil. For example if you're going to be stenciling on a wall you can tape a piece of paper to the wall (with your stencil phrase written on it) just to get an idea of the size stencil you'll want. If you're stenciling along a kitchen soffit you'll need to pay attention to the overall stencil height so that you leave enough room around the stencil.

2. How are your lettering stencils designed ?

We use a couple of different software programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to design our stencils. The computer program sets the distance between the letters for us so that all of our stencils are evenly spaced. Once this is done it's sent to our professional stencil cutting machine which uses up to 500 pounds of downforce to cut our stencils.

3. What kind of stencil material do you use for your custom designed lettering stencils?

We use a 8.5 ml reusable stencil material which is self adhesive and low tack. Our stencils material is fleixible enough to conform to curves or irregular surfaces. Plus our self adhesive stencils will not harm your walls.

4. Are your stencils reusable?

Yes, our stencils are reusable multiple times. We don't feel that you should buy a stencil, use it once, then throw it away. If your careful you can use our stencils multiple times. Use our stencils for your own projects then share them with a friend. Because our stencils are reusable they do have stencil bridges.

5. How do I remove my stencil from the backing?

Our stencil material has a heavy backing paper attached which protects the blade as the material is cut. The stencils have a low tack backing. Simply remove the stencil from the backing. Be sure and save the backing material so that you can store your stencil when your done.

6. How do I clean my stencil after I use it?

If you're stenciling with acrylic paint just wash your stencil with soap and warm water. An old tooth brush works well for gently scrubbing your stencil. It helps to clean your stencil as soon as you're done with it to prevent the paint from building up. If you don't have time to wash your stencil right away soak it in a container of water. You do have to be carefull when you clean your stencil so that you don't tear the bridges or bend them. Store the stencil on the backing paper and loosly roll it up or if it's a smaller stencil you can store it flat between two pieces of cardboard.

7. How do you ship your stencils?

Our smaller stencils are shipped in an envelope with cardboard protection. Our larger stencils are rolled up and shipped in a box.

8. What words or phrases can you copy?

Names, titles, facts, short phrases and slogans are considered safe to copy. We will not copy anything that we consider to be copyright protected material.

9. What size lettering stencils can you cut?

Our machine can cut from 2" to 12" high letters. We don't cut stencils under 1" tall because our stencil material doesn't work well for small letters.

10. What 's your return policy for stencils?

If we made a mistake with your order please return it with-in 30 days for a refund. We are not responsible for returns if you tear your stencil removing it from the backing or in cleaning. Our stencils are durable but it is possible to tear them if you're not careful.

We hope this answers your questions. Happy stenciling.
