Stenciled autumn tray

Celebrate fall with our stenciled autumn tray craft project. Use our easy to follow instructions to create your own work of art. All of the supplies that you'll need for this project can be found at Jo-Ann Fabrics, Dick Blick or Mr. Art.

The supplies you need to create a stenciled autumn tray are:

Unfinished woodend tray Medium size stencil brushes
Lumiere metallic bronze, met olive green and pearl emerald green acrylic paint. Small foam brush or roller
Paper towels Plastic lid or painter's palette
Container to rinse brushes Decorative leaf stencils
Painters tape Minwax clear acrylic sealer
1. Start by priming your wooden tray with a coat of acrylic paint. Then add a top coat of light green acrylic paint. Interior house paint will work.
2. After your tray is dry tape down your leaf stencil. Spread out your paint and stencil supplies. You'll need Lumiere metallic bronze (or gold) met olive green and pearl emerald green. 3. Pour a small blot of each paint onto your plastic lid or palette. Dip your stencil brush into the paint then blot most of the paint off into your paper towel.
4. Start with pearl emeral green paint. Apply the paint by pouncing staight up & down. It's better to apply multiple thin coats then one heavy coat. This will prevent paint from running under your stencil. 5. Randomly add in met olive green then highlight with metallic bronze. Continue stenciling your leaves in a random pattern. When your stencil design is dry apply a coat of metallic bronze paint to the edges of your tray. 6. When your tray is dry apply 3 layers of Minwax clear acrylic sealer, allowing the tray to thoroughly dry in between coats.
