Add a colorful accent to you home or garden with this decoupaged birdhouse. This easy to make decoupage project can be created in a few hours.
Start with an unfinished wooden birdhouse of your choice.
Apply 2 coats of gesso, then Basics Cadmium Red and Basics dark blue. Measure birdhouse roof and cut section of craft paper (your color choice) to size.
Soak craft paper in water for a short time to soften. This makes the Mod Podge easier to apply.
Put a thin layer of modge podge on roof then slide craft paper on top. Smooth out wrinkles.
When your birdhouse is dry, apply a second layer of glossy Mod Podge.

Mod Podge goes on milky but, turns clear once it drys. It's water based which makes it easy to clean your brushes. It comes in glossy, matte, sparkle and outdoor finish. This is one of my favorite paints. Basics is a thick, creamy artist paint that works great for general purpose craft painting. I've used it to stencil walls with good results. The paint is thick and less likely to run under the stencil. The colors can be easily mixed together to create your own colors. Cleans up easily with soap and water. Gesso is an artist primer that can be used for a variety of different surfaces. It's thinner than paint and especially works well on wood.
