Spray your stencil down with low tack stencil adhesive. This will secure your stencil to the wall. Note: I haven't had any problems with stencil adhesive damaging my walls.

If your using a one time use stencil carefully pull the backing from the paper. If you have a long stencil it's a good idea to get help because the stencil can roll up and stick to its self.

Make sure that your stencil is level before you start to paint. I like to let my stencils sit on the wall a few minutes, take a few steps back, and check from different angles just to make sure that the stencil looks like it's in the right place before I paint. |
