Framed Raised Stencils

Framed raised stencils are a unique way to decorate your home. They can turn a plain white wall into a work of art. Raised stencils can be used on walls, wood, paper, and even glass. Best of all you can decorate with raised stencils even if you live in an apartment.

Framed raised stencils can be used for wall decor in any room in your home.
Use a scissors to cut your raised stencils apart before you begin. Use heavy weight cardstock for your background. I like to place my matt over the stencil to get an idea of what it will look like. To keep the background paper clean cover it with paper and secure with painters tape.
Place two dollops of stencil paste on your stencil. Use the largest putty knife to smooth.
Carefully remove all of the tape leaving only one piece at the top to hold the stencil. Slowly remove the stencil
It will take a few hours for the finished stencil to dry.
Framed raised stencils are in inexpensive, creative way to decorate your home.

Framed raised stencils are fun to make. You can use any color cardstock that you want to fit your color scheme. If you can't find a heavy cardstock use a lighter paper and mount it to cardboard. The back of a cereal box works great for this purpose.

While they're fun to make you do have to go slow and be neat. If you do happen to get some stencil paste on your cardstock paper wipe it off with a damp cloth immediately. Letting it dry may make it worse. Otherwise just consider it part of your art work.

You're going to need a deep frame for mounting raised stencils. I've found some nice, inexpensive frames at home improvement stores so you don't have to buy custom frames for this project.
